In our house the only realistic option for a time-out spot is on the basement stairs. They have served their purpose fairly well for the last 8 month that we have been in this house. Well today while sitting on time-out Molly fell down the stairs. You can see from the picture below that our stairs are not soft by any means. Actually they have metal edges on them.... ouch!! Molly is always so careful and good with the stairs so I never once foresaw this happening.
I didn't see her fall but my guess (by what it sounded like) is she was attempting to crawl down head first "spider-man style" like her older brother has been doing lately. Since she has to do everything she sees him do, I'm convinced that her curiosity was the root of this accident. Thankfully Dad got home from work a little early today and was able to make a few calls and then take her in to get stitched up. 4.jpg)

Scott said she was pretty upset when they tried to stitch her up so they gave her some meds to relax her. By the time she got home she wasn't sad anymore but was acting pretty strange. She was walking like a drunk person and saying some pretty funny stuff. At one point she was putting her french fries to bed (giving kisses and saying nite-nite), then she would point to her leg and say "what's that?", then look at me and say "oh I love you mama.", then point back to her leg and laugh. It was pretty funny to see her so "out of it" and loopy.
UGH..... But I still feel so sick over it!! I can't stop thinking what if...... What if it would have been much worse, because it so easily could have been! So I guess I am also feeling really thankful and blessed that two stitches and some bruising is all the damage!!! So we will no longer be using the basement stairs for time-out. I guess I'll just have to let them continue to run wild for the rest of winter without consequence..... but that is much better than a trip to the ER.

Oh no!! Molly you are just like your Mom I think you had stitches 3 times Em ... wish Grandma could kiss it better! Love you Grandma Sorensen
i am glad she is okay!!! Gavin had to get stitches in his hand once and they had to give him some meds to relax him and he acted pretty funny too. He couldn't stop laughing. It was strange. That is funny that she was tucking her frnch fries into bed! hahha!
How sad! I am glad it wasn't any worse.
Poor Molly,
I hope she is back to normal. But how funny to see her like that!!
It sounds like you handled it well. Kids will be kids I have learned that many times. I am so glad that she is ok and that it wasn't any worse. I felt so bad when Cole broke his femur but I know it could have been much worse.
ouch! what a tough girl!
just found your blog. how fun!:)
poor molly!! I guess another good thing about having an older brother is I bet she is pretty tough!! Time outs for Hunter are hard in general...Carter would do them no problem, Hunter still has a hard time making it through the allotted time. Anyway, I am glad she's ok I am sure you were pretty scared!!
Glad she is okay.
I am so happy you guys took her in to get stitches! I can't tell you how many time I hear about dr's giving them at home and just cringe! SO many issues with that.
Anywhos, so glad that everyone is okay and doing well. Your kids are just soo sooo cute!
